An archipelago is a place that consists of a chain or organization of islands scattered in lakes, rivers, or the ocean. The phrase “archipelago” comes from the medieval Italian phrase archi, that means leader or most important, and the Greek phrase pelagus, which means gulf, pool, or pond.
most archipelagos are shaped while volcanoes erupt from the ocean ground; those are referred to as oceanic islands. The islands of the Hawaiian archipelago, for instance, were fashioned via a sequence of volcanic eruptions that commenced greater than eighty million years in the past and are nevertheless active nowadays.
