Shah Wali Ullah (1703-1762) was a prominent Islamic scholar and reformer in India during the 18th century.

He is known to have invited Ahmad Shah Abdali (also known as Ahmad Shah Durrani) to invade India to help defeat the Maratha Empire and restore Muslim rule in India.

Ahmad Shah Abdali was a powerful Afghan ruler who had established his empire in present-day Afghanistan, Pakistan, and parts of India.

He invaded India in 1756-1757 and defeated the Marathas in the Third Battle of Panipat in 1761.
