It was originally opened in Mughalpura, Lahore.

The dry port was constructed by Pakistan Railways in 7/1973.

مریم 18 مئی 1992ء کو کراچی میں پیدا ہوئیں۔ آپ کے والد کرنل (ر) مختیار احمد شیخ پاک فوج میں شامل تھے ۔ طویل جدوجہد کے بعد ان کی محنت رنگ لائی اور 2014ء میں وہ پاک فضائیہ سے بطور فائٹر پائلٹ منسلک ہوگئیں۔

24 نومبر 2015ء کی صبح مریم اپنے انسٹرکٹر، ثاقب عباسی کے ساتھ معمول کی مشق پر روانہ ہوئیں۔ جب وہ ضلع گجرات کی فضاؤں میں پرواز کررہے تھے، تو اچانک انجن میں آگ لگ گئی اور وہ دھڑا دھڑ جلنے لگا۔

دراصل اس وقت ان کا طیارہ آبادی کے اوپر اڑ رہا تھا۔ اس کے پرے کھیت واقع تھے۔ دونوں بہادر پائلٹوں نے فیصلہ کیا کہ چھلانگ لگانے کا فیصلہ چند لمحوں کے لیے ملتوی کردیا جائے تاکہ طیارہ آبادی کے بجائے کھیتوں کے اوپر پہنچ جائے ۔  مگر یہی چند قیمتی لمحے مریم کی شہادت کا سبب بن گئے۔
