Explanation

The Union Territory of Ladakh has two districts: Leh and Kargil.

However, the Government of India announced plans to increase the number of districts to seven by 2028.

The new districts will be Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang.

Leh is the largest district in India by area.

It's also one of the world's coldest and most elevated inhabited regions.
