Ram can row downstream 20 km in 2 hours and upstream 4 km 2 hours. Find his speed of rowing in still water and speed of current.
Answer: 6km/hr
Explanation
Downstream= x+y km/hr
And speed = distance/time
20km/2hr
10km/hr
Then x+y=10km/hr
or x = 10-y km/hr
Also
Downstream
x-y=4km/2hr
x-y=2km/hr
Putting value of x=10-y
10-y-y=2
y=4km/hr= speed of current
And x = 6km/hr= speed of boat
