Explanation
The Partition of Bengal was approved by the British Indian government in June 1905.
It was officially implemented on 16 October 1905.
The partition was carried out by Lord Curzon.
Bengal was divided into:
- East Bengal and Assam (Muslim-majority)
- West Bengal (Hindu-majority).
Due to widespread opposition, the partition was annulled in 1911.
