Explanation

The hormone that suppresses ovulation is progesterone. 

Progesterone, particularly high levels during pregnancy, prevents ovulation by inhibiting follicular development and providing negative feedback to the hypothalamus, reducing the release of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH).
