Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin was a Russian mystic 

He was born in the Russian Empire in Pokrovskoye, Siberia in 1869.

He became influential at the court of Tsar Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra. 

He was known for improving the condition of Aleksey Nikolayevich, the hemophiliac heir to the Russian throne. 

He was assassinated by a group of noblemen, including Prince Felix Yusupov in 1916 in Petrograd (now St. Petersburg).

He was poisoned, shot, and thrown into the Neva River.
