Explanation

Mount Mitchell is indeed the highest peak in the Appalachian Mountains.

It stands at an elevation of 6,684 feet (2,037 meters).

It is also the highest peak in the eastern United States, located east of the Mississippi River.

It is situated in the Black Mountain range of the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina. 

It is ranked 31st by topographic isolation.
