Explanation

·         Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has launched a $15 billion project named “Kanal Istanbul” which runs parallel to Bosphorus Strait will connect Black Sea & Marmara Sea.

·         The concept of a canal linking the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara has been proposed at least seven times in history.

·         Pre-feasibility studies commenced April 2009, feasibility studies conducted April 2012, Construction has started June 2021
