54 nations in Africa are part of the BRI.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is known in China as the One Belt One Road.

In December 2023, 151 countries had joined the BRI by signing a MoU with China.

The BRI countries are distributed as follows:

• 44 in Sub-Saharan Africa
• 34 BRI in Europe & Central Asia
• 25 BRI in East Asia & Pacific (including China)
• 22 BRI in Latin America & the Caribbean
• 19 BRI in the Middle East & North Africa
• 6 in Southeast Asia

This also includes

• 17 countries of the European Union (EU), and
• 8 countries of the G20.
