Africa is free from wild poliovirus, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced on 25 August 

By 2020, all three strains of the wild poliovirus (type 1, type 2, and type 3) have been eradicated in Africa.

In 2020 two countries where the virus remains endemic, are Afghanistan and Pakistan.

while

Type 2 wild poliovirus was declared eradicated in September 2015.
