Explanation

In "The Overcoat" by Nikolai Gogol, the young man's evening promenade ends in his death.

After purchasing a new overcoat, which briefly brings him joy and a sense of pride, he is mugged by thieves who steal the coat.

As a result of the incident and the ensuing trauma, he falls ill and eventually dies.
