The Hijaz Mountains are a mountain range in the Hejazi region of Saudi Arabia.

The Hijaz Mountains were formed by the uplifting of the eastern flank of the Great Rift Valley.

The name "Hejaz" literally means "barrier". 

The Hejazi region includes the cities of Mecca, Medina, Jeddah, Tabuk, Yanbu, Taif, and Baljurashi.

The region is also known as the "Western Province".
