Explanation

Marco Polo sheep are found mainly in Pakistan's Hunza district

Live in the Pamir Mountains, bordering Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and China. 

The subspecies, Ovis ammon polii, was first described by zoologist Edward Blyth in 1841.

They are named after the explorer Marco Polo, who mentioned them in "The Travels of Marco Polo."
