1.       Represent the views of their state in the Senate

2.       Scrutinize the work of the Government

3.       Introduce and debate legislation

4.       Work on Senate Committees to analyse information from community organisations, lobby groups and members of the public on specific issues or legislation

5.       Present petitions; and,

6.       Make recommendations on the Financial Bill
