On  December 23, 1976, Canada terminated its nuclear cooperation with Pakistan and stopped shipping nuclear fuel, heavy water, spare parts and technical information. Canada's decision was based on Pakistan's signing of  the NPT and its failure to accept safeguards for the entire nuclear program.
