Explanation

In 1966, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the leader of the Awami League, presented a six-point demand for autonomy for East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).

The six points were:

1. A federal system with a weak central government
2. Provincial autonomy for East Pakistan
3. Separate currency for East Pakistan
4. Separate foreign trade policy for East Pakistan
5. Provincial control over taxation
6. A separate militia for East Pakistan
