Explanation

In June 2023, President Arif Alvi  appointed Justice Qazi Faez Isa, a senior puisne judge of the Supreme Court, as the country’s next top judge.

The appointment will come into effect on September 17 2023 when the incumbent chief justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Umar Ata Bandial, will retire.
